An interview with Gabriela Buchs. Is the Tour de Suisse a testing ground for the future of cycling?
With its new concept, the 2026 Tour de Suisse has broken new ground: for the first time, the women’s and men’s races took place simultaneously, on the same dates, in the same stage towns, and on largely identical routes. This WorldTour format—the only one of its kind in the world—is already attracting interest from other organizers and making the Tour de Suisse a true testing ground for the future of cycling. In this interview, CEO Gabriela Buchs reflects on the project’s origins, the key decisions made behind the scenes, and the opportunities—as well as the challenges—that such a format presents for the future of cycling.

At the Heart of the Tour de Romandie with Richard Chassot
Every day, for a few hours on television, the Tour de Romandie winds its way through the roads and landscapes of French-speaking Switzerland. A race, images, winners. But behind this familiar spectacle lies a complex organization, behind-the-scenes decisions, and dozens of people who make the event happen day after day.

Jay Vine: What the Race Doesn't Show
Behind the miles, the climbs, and the finish lines lies everything we don’t see: the daily grind, the small adjustments, and the choices that shape a career at the highest level.

Building a career at the highest level on his own: Tormis Laine's challenge
Behind the results and the margins of a few hundredths of a second that make all the difference, there is another reality. A reality built without the support of a major national organization, where every detail matters even more.
"What inspires me is not just
Charlotte
victory but everything behind it."
Who am I?
For almost half my life - and I'm only 15 - I've lived my life to the rhythm of sport. Passionate about cycling, skiing, athletics, tennis, F1 and other sports, I practice, watch, read and experience competitions in the field, on the roadside, on tracks, courts, lakes or in stadiums... in short, sport is part of my daily life!
But one question has always fascinated me: who are these exceptional athletes? What drives them, inspires them, makes them who they are?
That's why I created BTS by Charlotte - Behind The Scenes - a space to give a voice to athletes, to go behind the scenes and discover the human stories behind the performances.
I speak French, German and English, which allows me to follow sports news and athletes from all over the world.
Join me on BTS by Charlotte to experience sport differently - closer, truer, more human.
THEY LET ME GO BEHIND THE SCENES
A big thank you to the organizers of the Tour de Suisse (World Tour), the Tour de Romandie (World Tour), Athletissima (Diamond League), and SCOTT for their trust and for giving me a glimpse behind the scenes.

Primož Roglič: The Champion Who Wasn't Destined for Cycling
Primož Roglič wasn’t supposed to become a cyclist. Until the age of 22, his life revolved around ski jumping. Cycling became part of his daily life almost by chance, while he was recovering from an injury. A few years later, he was winning the world’s biggest races. His list of achievements is immense: five Grand Tours, four Vuelta victories, an Olympic gold medal, and more than 90 wins.

Paul Seixas: What's most impressive about him isn't found in any rankings.
A historic fourth-place finish at just 19 years old. That’s what the 2026 Tour de France will remember about Paul Seixas. But behind this exceptional result lies another story: that of a young rider whose most valuable qualities can’t be measured in watts or seconds.

Macklin Celebrini, captain at age 19. A leader long before that.
At the 2026 Ice Hockey World Championships held in Switzerland, Team Canada left the tournament without a medal. Yet, as the games went on, one thing became clear: Macklin Celebrini never seemed like a 19-year-old player. Long before he arrived in Switzerland, he was already considered one of the greatest talents of his generation.
